Quenira Homework Protection — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 August 2026
Quenira Homework Protection is a browser extension that enforces a
content policy configured by a parent, guardian, or administrator, to help keep
homework focused when using search and generative-AI tools. It is installed and
managed by that responsible adult — it is not covert monitoring, and it is not a
consumer product a child signs up for independently. This policy explains what
the extension does and does not do with information.
What the extension processes
- Text you type on supported sites. On the specific sites
the extension supports (currently Google Search and ChatGPT), the text you
enter is sent to the Quenira controller configured for your household to
decide whether it is appropriate during homework (allow, guide toward the
approved tutor, or block). This text is used only to make that
decision and is not stored. The controller records only the decision
itself (allow / guide / block), a reason code, and minimal metadata, so the
managing adult can see activity on their dashboard.
- Page navigation on supported sites. The address of pages
you visit on those supported sites, so the configured policy can be applied
before the page loads.
- Managed configuration. The extension reads its policy from
the browser's managed storage — the household controller's address and the
cryptographically signed policy set by the managing adult.
- Enrollment and authentication. To connect this device to
the household controller, the extension uses a one-time enrollment code
(provided by the managing adult or through managed configuration) and, in
exchange, stores a device authentication token issued by that controller. That
token is used to authenticate this device to the controller on subsequent
requests. These are the extension's own service credentials for your
household's controller — they are not your passwords, and the
extension does not collect or transmit credentials for any third-party
account, website, or service.
- Protection health. The extension reports whether protection
is active (a liveness signal) to the locally installed Quenira agent and to
the controller, so the managing adult can confirm it is running. This does not
include the content of your browsing.
What the extension does not do
- It does not collect your general browsing history — it operates only on the
specific supported sites it declares.
- It does not store the content of your searches or prompts.
- It does not use your information for advertising, and it does not sell or
rent your information.
Where information goes
The extension communicates only with the Quenira controller configured for
your household and with the locally installed Quenira agent. In Quenira's hosted
service, that controller runs under *.quenira.app and is operated by
Quenira as a processor acting on the managing adult's behalf; the managing adult
is the decision-maker for how it is configured. Infrastructure providers (for
example, Cloudflare) may process traffic in transit as part of delivering the
service. Policy delivered to the extension is cryptographically signed and
verified against a pinned key, and communications use HTTPS.
Children's privacy
Quenira Homework Protection is a parental-control tool configured and
controlled by a parent, guardian, or administrator for their own household or
organization. It is deployed under adult management, and the managing adult
configures it and is responsible for the policy it enforces. Because searches and
prompts are used only to make an in-the-moment homework-appropriateness decision
and are not stored, the service is designed to minimize the information it holds
about the people it protects.
Retention and access
Search and prompt content is not retained. Decision metadata (the action,
reason, and timing) is retained only as long as needed to power the managing
adult's dashboard, and the managing adult can review, export, or delete their
household's data through the Quenira dashboard and can uninstall the extension at
any time.
